Transwind - In the beginning
Forever the dog lover throughout my childhood - below is my first showdog from Brisbane - a white Mini Poodle, Mahdeeb White Caprice - purchased in 1965 while living in Cairns and shown in baby thru junior classes. Antoine became the beloved pet of my parents, while I continued to yearn that one day I would own a larger breed of dog.

I knew the moment I saw a picture of a afghan hound in a magazine, that this was the breed for me - it was an instant fascination that has never died, despite many setbacks during my time in the breed.
Following our relocation to Darwin, after making contact with a couple of breeders I decided on Pineswift Karli, sired by Tarababa of Carloway out of a Mazari daughter. In 1969 (Ch) Pineswift Karli arrived in Darwin, the beginning of my long association with our wonderful breed. Karli became a very loyal family member and was the first afghan registered in Darwin
Not long afterwards our household was joined by Dzum Bootleg Blue (Pasha - Moses x Pada) & Chantrey Silvers Image (Immy - Akabas Hi Ho Silver Imp USA x Blue Max dau')

In 1974, I imported (Aust Ch) Tuohi-Tikan Yty from Finland, who later became the foundation of my breeding program. Regrettably some of her best progeny were never to survive to adulthood. Moving to Adelaide after Cyclone Tracey, Yty was already on her long way out through quarantine eventually joining me there.
One of her daughters produced a lovely litter to a youngster Ch Calahorra Steel Wings who I had acquired from Stuart & Wendye Slatyer. This combo proved exciting and gave me a wondeful litter, which included a dog who just stole my heart completely. Locky was simply 'a wonderful dog to live with'.
Following my recent owner building project I am now looking forward to more of the afghan hound scene again.
